Passive

In personal ads and sexual contexts, “passive” means that a person takes the more receiving or receptive role during sex. The term is therefore not a judgment, but a description of a role within a sexual act or dynamic. Depending on the context, “passive” may refer to specific practices, positions, or a preferred role.

It is important that such roles are always based on consent and clearly agreed upon. Being passive does not mean having less control or less say: boundaries, desires, and stop signals always apply. Especially in BDSM contexts, role distribution should be clearly discussed with attention to safety, communication, and aftercare.
