Neither-nor
Neither-nor is a term from the German trans and non-binary community for people who do not identify as either male or female. It refers to individuals who locate their gender identity outside the binary model rather than within it. The term is mainly used when it is explicitly important to emphasize that no male, female, or in-between identity is meant.
The term is not universal and is not used or considered fitting by all non-binary people. As with other self-designations, the person’s own identification is what matters. In a dictionary context, the term should be understood as a community-based self-description rather than as a fixed medical or legal category.
