Xenogender
Xenogender is an umbrella term for non-binary gender identities that do not fit, or do not fully fit, into the categories “female,” “male,” or “genderless.” Some people use the term as a self-descriptor to express that their gender is experienced in a way that cannot be adequately described by conventional terms. Images, objects, natural phenomena, or other concepts are often used to illustrate that experience.
Xenogender is not a medical diagnosis term, but an identity-based self-description. Its exact meaning can vary greatly from person to person. It is important not to narrow the term from the outside or dismiss it as “not real,” but to understand it as part of diverse queer self-identifications.
