Diverse

In Germany, diverse has been a possible legal gender marker since 01/01/2019 and is mainly used by intersex and non-binary people. It does not denote a gender in itself, but serves as a legal umbrella category for people who are not to be recorded as clearly male or female.

The marker “diverse” is a legal category and is not automatically identical with a person’s gender identity. A person’s own self-description may differ. What matters most is always the individual’s self-identification. 12/25
