Pre-ejaculate
Pre-ejaculate is a clear, usually small amount of fluid that can be released from the penis during sexual arousal. It is a glandular secretion, also called pre-cum, that appears before ejaculation. It can moisten the mucous membranes and act as a natural lubricant.
Importantly, even though pre-ejaculate appears before actual ejaculation, it may contain sperm and therefore does not rule out pregnancy or the transmission of infections. This should be taken into account during sex, especially with unprotected contact. Safer sex, hygiene, and contraception remain relevant.
