Submissive / Submissiveness
In a BDSM context, submissive describes a yielding, subordinate, or service-oriented attitude; depending on context, the term submissiveness may also be used. Submissive people often enjoy playing with power imbalance, control, and surrender. Being submissive does not automatically mean being masochistic: a person can be submissive without liking pain, and vice versa.
As with all BDSM practices, this must be consensual, negotiated in advance, and bounded clearly. Submission is a voluntary role, not a license to cross boundaries. Safe words, aftercare, and respectful observance of agreements are especially important. 07/25
