Amicusromantic
Amicusromantic describes a romantic orientation in which romantic attraction can only develop after a platonic relationship, friendship, or trusted non-romantic bond has already been formed with another person. Without such a prior connection, romantic attraction is usually not experienced.
The term is similar to demiromantic, but it places particular emphasis on a platonic or friendship-based foundation. This does not mean that every friendship leads to romantic attraction, but rather that romantic attraction for amicusromantic people may depend on an existing sense of platonic closeness.
Amicusromantic can be understood as an identity on the aromantic spectrum. As with all orientation terms, it describes personal experience; whether “amicusromantic” feels accurate is for the individual to decide.
