Label / Tag
A label is a term people may use to describe their sexual orientation, gender identity, or other aspects of identity. Examples include lesbian, gay, bisexual, asexual, trans, intersex, non-binary, and queer. Such terms can provide a shared language for understanding experiences, talking about sexuality and gender, and finding community.
Labels are useful when people choose them for themselves and can change them if needed. They should not be imposed from the outside, because identity is personal and not always fixed or easy to define. Some people use several labels, while others use none at all. What matters most is respecting each person’s chosen self-description.
