Stealth
Stealth refers to the state in which a trans person is not recognized or outed as trans in everyday life or in public. The term is mainly used when someone does not disclose their trans status and is read by others as cis. This can be a matter of protection, privacy, or personal safety.
Living stealth is an individual choice and can feel relieving for some people while being demanding or uncertain for others. The term does not describe a person’s transition stage, appearance, or “visibility,” but rather the social status of not being out. In queer contexts, it is important to respect the right to self-determination and confidentiality.
