Post-Orgasm Torture
Post-orgasm torture refers in BDSM to continuing sexual stimulation immediately after an orgasm. It can involve people of any gender and is often combined with orgasm control, tease and denial, forced orgasm, or overstimulation. The appeal often lies in loss of control, the heightened sensitivity after climax, and the dynamic in which the stimulated person does not decide when the touch ends.
Sensations after orgasm vary widely. Some people experience further stimulation as pleasurable, intense, or trance-like, while others quickly find it unpleasant, painful, overwhelming, or emotionally difficult. Especially when bondage, restraint, or a power imbalance is involved, prior negotiation is essential: permitted body areas, intensity, duration, taboos, safewords, and nonverbal stop signals must be clear. “Being unable to get away” may only be part of consensual play and must never mean that boundaries are ignored.
Physically, prolonged stimulation can cause overstimulation, burning, numbness, pain, swelling, cramps, or minor skin and mucous membrane injuries. Lubricant, breaks, varied types of stimulation, and attentive communication help reduce risks. If severe pain, numbness, bleeding, persistent burning, circulatory problems, or emotional overwhelm occur, the scene should be stopped immediately. Aftercare is especially important because post-orgasm stimulation can shift quickly from pleasurable to overwhelming.
