Sissification

Sissification is a consensual BDSM role play in which a person who is usually male-presenting or male-identified takes on a “sissy” role. It often involves feminine clothing, lingerie, make-up, specific names, behavioral rules, tasks, or a deliberately exaggerated feminine presentation. The appeal may lie in submission, shame, taboo-breaking, surrender of control, transformation, exhibitionism, or erotic humiliation.

It is important to distinguish between a play role, gender identity, and real devaluation. Sissification does not automatically mean that a person is trans, wants to be a woman, or actually loses their masculinity; for some people, it may also be a way to explore gender. The practice becomes problematic when femininity, homosexuality, or trans identity is portrayed as inherently inferior or ridiculous. Responsible sissification ensures that humiliation remains clearly tied to the agreed role and does not demean real groups of people.

As with any form of humiliation or power play, clear negotiation is essential. Terms, clothing, photos, public exposure, sexual acts, limits, taboos, and safewords should be discussed beforehand. Particular caution is needed with shame, outing fantasies, online publication, or long-term role behavior: once images or intimate information have been shared, they are often impossible to take back. The practice should take place only voluntarily, respectfully, and in a way that can be stopped at any time, with aftercare if the scene was emotionally intense.
